People's mood is not stable during a day or a week. Every now and then we feel happy or sad due to some external action. For instance, if you received a compliment or become promoted you feel absolutely happy. And vice versa, in case you understand that it isn't your day and everything goes wrong you are completely upset and disappointed with your life. From time to time your mood does not depend on what's happening around you, and your mood is in accordance with your internal processes. To be upset from time to time is absolutely normal. The problem is that for some people such moodiness becomes a normal state of mind. A permanent state of aversion to activity and low mood that can affect a person's behavior, ideas and physical state is called depression. Depression is not just a caprice of a person, it's a grave medical dysfunction. It is unlikely to clear up of its own accord, you'll have to see a doctor and to use some medicines to overpass this dysfunction. The symptoms of depression disorder are generally described as feelings of sadness, anxiety, hopelessness and worthlessness. From time to time people in depression even feel guilt and restlessness. It is also common for depressed people to lose interest to different activities, to become indifferent to what's going on around them. Depressed people even find it hard to concentrate on what they are doing and to remember details as well. Energy loss, permanent feeling of tiredness and insomnia are also typical symptoms of depression. The most common cure for depression disorder is psychotherapy together with administration of antidepressant drugs. The activity of most antidepressants is based on slowdown of the elimination process of certain chemical substances from brain. Such chemical substances are known as neuromediators and they are important for regular brain activity. Antidepressants keep neurotransmitters in brain for longer period of time, and in such a way the state of mind of a depressed person is becoming normalized. Antidepressants are commonly taken during 4 to 6 months. But because of their interaction with other taken medicines you should visit a doctor prior to taking this or that type of antidepressants.
